Vehicle Description

Debuting at the 1965 Earls Court Motor Show the GT version of MG’s iconic B roadster was designed by Pininfarina and launched the sporty hatchback style.
The GT offered far more practicality than the previous roadster, in luggage space, all year round motoring and improved aerodynamics increasing the top speed by 5 miles per hour to 105 miles per hour. 125,282 had been made when the Abingdon factory closed in 1980. Though, few if any can boast the provenance of this one.

The car was sold by Stratton Motor Company in 1982 to its first and only registered keeper. The vehicle was undersealed, delivered and then dry stored in a wooden building with mileage of a mere 106 delivery miles, where it has remained over the past 37 years.

As delivered from the factory the spare key still resides screwed on the bulk head, the radio fitting kit remains in its original envelope and the number plates are in the boot undrilled ready for fitting.

The factory chalk markings to the underside of its rear seats (198 GT) and bonnet (027) plus a Leyland sticker to the back of its differential are still to be seen.

For safety reasons the original Dunlop SP4 tyres although as new and holding air have been replaced and retained. All flexible fuel lines have been renewed and the brakes have been checked over and bled.

After blowing off the cobwebs the car has now covered a warranted 114 miles.

114 miles in 37 years that makes this car unique and as new as it is possible to get unless you know different.

What is the future for this unique car will it return to storage or be let loose on the open road?
