MG Named ‘Most Improved’ Brand in What Car? Reliability Survey
MG has secured its first top ten finish in the 2026 What Car? Reliability Survey, ranking ninth with a score of 92.0% and earning the title of most-improved brand.
There were strong results for individual models too, with the MGS5 EV finishing first in the small family electric SUV class and the MG5 taking third place in the electric car category.
The survey considers repair costs and time off the road alongside reported faults, so effective aftersales support plays an important role in the results. MG’s performance follows significant investment in parts availability, technician training and customer care.
Faster parts, stronger support
MG’s new parts distribution centre in Daventry supports overnight deliveries to participating dealers, with more than 96% of parts orders fulfilled first time during 2026 to date. This helps workshops prepare repairs sooner and reduce delays for customers.
MG has also increased its technical workforce by 30%, including specialist field engineers known as “flying doctors”, who visit dealerships to help diagnose and resolve complex faults.
Investing in expertise
An investment of approximately £500,000 has doubled the size of MG’s Cecil Kimber College training academy at Longbridge. The expanded facility provides more workshop space and classrooms, increasing maximum delegate capacity from 24 to 100.
Training covers technicians, service advisers, parts managers and warranty specialists, supporting an informed service experience throughout the ownership journey.
An expanded replacement vehicle programme also helps eligible customers stay mobile during repairs following a qualifying breakdown, with more than 3,000 customers supported by autumn 2026.
For MG owners, these investments mean faster access to parts, greater technical expertise and improved support when it is needed—giving customers even more confidence when choosing their next MG.
